MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
Adopted by the Officers and Trustees
Whereas, JOSEPH MARAN, JR., a resident of Weehawken, New Jersey, departed this life on January 18, 2013, and distinguished himself by his outstanding service to the community, his family, and his fellow man as follows:
As a member of the Bar of the State of New Jersey by conducting the private practice of Law with the highest standards in Hudson County and Essex County, New Jersey, for forty-eight years; and as a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States;
As a Certified Civil Trial Attorney renowned for his advocacy in the precedent setting cases of Portee v. Jaffee, 84 N.J. 88 (1980); Brizak v. Needle, 239 N.J.Super. 415 (1990) cert.den. 122 N.J. 164 (1990); and Olds v. Donnelly, 291 N.J.Super. 222 (1996), aff’d 150 N.J. 424 (1997); as a National Board of Trial Advocacy Certified Board Attorney, accredited by the American Bar Association in legal and medical malpractice; as Author of the Chapter: “Legal Implications of Ciguatera” in the textbook Ciguatera Seafood Toxins; and for attaining Martindale-Hubbell’s AV preeminent AV rating.
By his devotion to his late-Parents, Joseph and Beatrice Maran; to his Children: David Maran, Esq., Jodi Sokaler, and Erik Maran.
Whereas, his death has created a deep sense of loss among his family, friends, colleagues, and professional associates. Now, Be it Resolved by the Officers, Trustees and Members of this Association that we record with sorrow the passing of our esteemed fellow member of the Bar and friend, and extend to his survivors the sympathy of the Hudson County Bar Association which shares their loss.
Be it Further Resolved that a certified true copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Clerk of the Court to be placed in the permanent records of that office.
